Natural Lawn Care Basics
It is a known fact that chemical fertilizers have dangerous side effects, so it would be best to lessen the dependency on them. If you want to develop a beautiful and healthy lawn, then you should consider natural lawn care. Moreover, you should also learn how and when to fertilize your lawn. In general, fertilization should be done twice a year and the most excellent times are based on the climate changes in your area. The favorite seasons are early spring and fall.
Another natural lawn care is to improve the soil of your lawn in order to have a greener and grass. You can do this by testing the pH level of your soil first. The reading should be somewhere around 6.5 to 7.0. If the soil of your lawn is between these figures, then it is considered a bit acidic. Treatment should be applied in case your lawn soil is not enough or excessively acidic.
If there is high level of clay found in your lawn soil, then it would be best to either rent an aerator or employ a professional who will do the job for you since clay can end up compressing the soil of your lawn, thus preventing essential nutrient and air to flow freely through it.
Watering is another important factor to promote natural lawn care, but do not put too much water as it can spoil the grass. The same goes for lack of water – it can result to dry soil and weak and poor grass. The most excellent times to water your lawn are between 12 MN to 8 AM. If you have sprinklers, then you can set them to go off at those hours. Also, keep in mind not to water your lawn after rainfall. If the grass in your lawn are turning brown or yellow, then that means it lacks water. So, the solution is pretty simple – put plenty of water, especially during summer or if the weather is hot.
