Why I Like Natural Lawn Fertilizers So Much

Here is my lawn, 100% organic lawn treatments!

I give you guys a lot of lawn care tips here on this blog, but none mean as much to me as those that have to do with natural or organic lawn treatments. There are a lot of reasons for that, but really, it comes down to results! Now, I don’t have time to give you the entire lawn treatment program in this one post, but you can get my very own here! :)

But let’s talk about organics and why they are good for your lawn:

Slow Release Naturally!

Organic lawn fertilizers release their nutrients (like nitrogen and iron) into the lawn very slowly over time. This is because they rely on heat to break down or decompose. This decomposition lets the nutrients into the soil where the grass roots can grab and use them. This slow feeding means the lawn is strengthened over time. A lawn that grows healthy slowly will stay that way longer when troubles hit (troubles like drought stress, insect pressure, weed invasion or fungal attack).

On the flip side, synthetic lawn treatements (man-made fertilizers) throw nutrients in immediately as soon as water hits them. This give the lawn a fast green up, but if you are not careful, that fast green will end in a crash fast! Too many synthetic fertilizer lawn treatments are overly heavy in the nitrogen department. Too much nitrogen too fast makes the lawn go nuts (grow fast) but just like when you give the kids too much candy, that fast, hyper blowout ends fast!

When you follow my lawn treatment program, you learn how to use the right synthetics in the beginning to give the lawn a boost without over-pushing it, and then you learn to switch to good, slow release organic lawn treatments for the long haul!

It’s all about the slow release you guys! :)
